Mother's Day

It's still May, so still okay to post about it right?

My first surprise happened the night before when my wonderful friends brought me these:

LOVE my friends!

Then, my wonderful husband began making dinner (that's right, this is Ransom BAKING)! It was pretty entertaining to watch him struggle and stress over putting on a dinner himself... but the best part is that now he thinks before he asks for baked goods!

We had the missionaries and another couple over for the dinner which was nice. Anything to take my mind off the pains Mother's Day brought up. Actually, it was really strange how hard Mother's Day was. Unlike Christmas, I never really thought about it until the day of and unlike Christmas, it was really really hard. It was probably dumb of me to go to church knowing that the primary children would be singing those sweet words, "Mother I love you". I couldn't help but bawl all the way through it. And since I didn't want to take away from the mothers in the congregation who were enjoying it, I just had to send Ransom for some toilet paper.

The one solace to the day was knowing that I am a mother. No matter what I am doing with my life right now; no matter what people assume when they see me. And I felt on Mother's Day more than I have ever felt, that Jonah loves me.

Victory!!

Need I say more?

It only took me like 9 months post-baby, not breathing, and two people to pull and zip, BUT I got it on!

Take THAT 20 year old Brooke! :)

My Life

As per request of my BFF, I'm told it's time to update.

Only problem is... there's not much going on and zero pictures to prove it!

But I'll try anyway:

My life as of late has consisted of waking up at 6:30 (week day or not because of my obnoxious internal clock!), getting ready for the day, making lunches, eating breakfast and heading out the door to take Ransom to school. From there it's good ol' work! 8.5 hours of non-stop fun with filing, answering phones, tracking production and running errands. Not exactly what I had in mind when I took this job, but honestly, beggars can't be choosers! First thing when I walk in the door around 5:45 is to make dinner, eat dinner and finally.... SIT DOWN! Oh the joys of a leather couch and Glee or 24 to empty my brain of anything and everything. If I have any sort of motivation, I will try to do something productive like, say, blog. But we all know how that's been working out recently. Then it's off to bed at around 10:30. Sleep and repeat. It's not the most exciting life I've ever led, but it works and I'm grateful for it.

For a lovely brake from routine, this past long weekend my sis Brie came to visit. It was realllly nice to have her around and to get us outside! We went hiking, swimming, shopping, saloning (not a word, I'm sure) and theatering! Lots of fun and big thanks to Brie for coming!

Oh, and for the biggest Young family news... remember that post about me coming home to WA for the summer? Welp, not happening. Turns out I really do need to stay here in order to get in state tuition for Ransom and honestly, the $8 grand saved each year is worth the sacrifice. So, sad to not get to go home, but glad to know I'll have a job. I will take a few vacations to WA this summer though so I plan to see all you friends and family! :)

So there it is; life in a nutshell!
